In general speaking terms I am pro – I have seen plenty times and in very different situations that collaboration is always the best way to get your team working and motivating people because they feel their opinion matters.
When someone sees that, the company is closer to their minds and “hearts”. I do that with my team in my company, people have been around for almost 40 years, and we are like family – they see the company interests as their own and act accordingly.
Some decisions, however, should not be taken by collaboration; you cannot tell someone that he is not having a good performance with the collaboration of all. While it is important that the person understands, that bad performance tells on the whole team, that is something the co-workers may point out. However, the decision to deal with that bad performance should be for the manager to take. This is just an example.
