According to an article in the Harvard Business Review autonomous workers are more productive.

 

 

I agree with some types of work and if the person is responsible but there are other types of work where autonomous workers simply cannot exist – in my own company we need the work (in person) of all workers to take care of customers, there is no way they could work autonomously or at home.
